About me
My name is Taufiq Hadimadja. I am also known as Karlan Hadi, my artist name.
I am a new grandfather to baby Giovanni (pictured), a freelance illustrator who is now semi-retired with flexible-hours working as a nurse, and am finally ready to open the magic drawer!

Inside: years of forgotten drawings, odd characters, and stories that never had their moment... Until now.

Before all this, I worked in advertising with Ogilvy in Indonesia before moving back to the UK to build a better life for my family. Over the years art had to be put on pause while I focused on work and other responsibilities. But the art never died, it is still inside me, it never left... Now it feels like the right time to bring the small world living in my mind into reality - especially with baby Gio now keeping me in check!
The Dream
I am setting off (bravely and ricketily) towards Bologna Children's Illustrator Fair to learn, explore, and bring these scribbles to life.

The dream?
A real book. A full of wonder, mischief, and slightly unruly imagination.

The Adventures of Tumbulala and Friends

Tumbulala and friends lived 5000BC. A lot of adventures and excitement through their lives. Tumbulala has a pet, named Dino. His friends are : Lidi and Babonala. Their favourite fruit: Banananana

The Leaf

Leaf lived a happy, sleepy life high up in the tree, swaying gently with his friends on the branches. But one windy night, while he was fast asleep..whoosh! Leaf tumbled down to the ground below. When he opened his eyes, everything felt strange, and scary. Until two curious dogs, Bella and Enzo, came sniffing him.. From that moment, Leaf's unexpected adventure begins..

Have you seen my Magic Pen?

I created this book, when Queen Elizabeth was alive. So, this book to honour her as a 'mother' figure Charlie loves to draw. And not just any drawing, because Charlie's pen is a magic pen! So whatever he draws it comes to life... But one day...it disappears Charlie searches everywhere - asking his mum, his toy robot, and every corners of his house. No luck. So he sets off to London to find it, until he meets the Queen - Queen Elizabeth II, surrounded by her guards at Hyde Park. Charlie bows politely. "Your Majesty..have you seen Magic pen?"
